Below are a few words and pictures from Karen
My name is Karen and during lockdown 1 my family encouraged me to take up running. I have never been very good at running even when I was younger, but I gave it a go. At first I could only manage 100 yards or so running so my run was more of a walk. In September my niece set a family challenge to do a virtual Great North Run. We ran a mile a day then had a weekend in Sunderland where we ran the last mile in South Shields. She then set us another challenge to run as far as we could from 1st to 24th December. I managed my target of 24 miles. I had my 60th birthday on 6th February and in a moment of madness I decided that as I couldn’t have a big celebration, I needed to mark this occasion in another way and set myself a challenge to run 60 miles from January 1st to my birthday! I had heard of EvesTrust and couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate my birthday than by raising some money for this wonderful charity.
I would like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and hope my small contribution will help bring a little joy to someone.
I managed to run and walk 60.5 miles in the coldest January in ages!!
