Businesses Can Help Dreams Become Reality with Eve Merton Dreams Trust
The Eve Merton Dreams Trust is a Doncaster based charity that supports hundreds of families each year who experience the fear and isolation caused by Cancer. The Charity was set up in response to the sad passing of Eve Merton in 2011 to secondary Ovarian Cancer. Her family and friends wanted to turn the grief of losing a much loved and adored mother and friend into positive experiences for other cancer patients in the local area.
Since then, the charity has grown in popularity, we have created over 500 Dreams for Cancer patients and their families experiencing the trauma created from this horrendous disease. The team work tirelessly to support families, many of whom become volunteers with the charity, assisting with fundraising, creating Dreams, supporting mental health and promoting events.
Since Covid, we have had an increase in applications from terminal patients, with an average of 15% pre-Covid, rising to 85% during and post-Covid. We calculate a loss of revenue of £125,000 in the last financial year that has impacted on the ability to provide Dreams. However, the team have continued to push through hard times to continue to assist families and help to cope with mental health issues arising from isolation, particularly Doncaster residents dealing with terminal illness.
Our Volunteer groups have determinedly created a new range of products to develop new income generating options for the charity. These are proving popular and will be available to purchase at Doncaster Pride and will be available on the new EvesTrust website soon.
We are appealing to local businesses or individuals to get involved by becoming a sponsor or providing donations, volunteering their time, money, or materials to help support the development of the EvesTrust Memorial Garden.
Clynton Johnson, co-founder & Operations Manager at EvesTrust invites businesses and organisations to attend the ‘Call To Action Day’ at the EvesTrust Memorial Garden at The Bridge school on Monday 15th August. This is a project working alongside Cambeth Community Project C.I.C and The Bridge Hub that will create a sensory garden for relaxation and a remembrance place for families.
