‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’

Jeanette and her friends enjoyed time together on a spa break.

When going through the mental stress and pressures of everything that comes with cancer, it can be key to try and relax and unwind with friends or family. This is Jeanette’s story:

“My name is Jeanette and I have cancer.

I have always wanted to go for a proper relaxing spa break and to be pampered with my friends! I heard about Evestrust through the Doncaster cancer support drop-in centre. On their advice, I went to the Evestrust website at Evestrust.co.uk and applied for a dream.

I was amazed that I was contacted the very next day! Once I’d submitted my evidence they requested, I was assigned my own dreams coordinator to discuss the details and talk me through the process and what my request might be. They contacted me within days of my initial application to ask some more questions, getting an idea of what I wanted for my dream and asked if I had seen any specific places for my dream. I explained I’d had a look around and liked the look of one certain place I’d seen. I’d asked for a Monday and Tuesday and they had me and 3 friends booked on for a stay for the next week! I couldn’t believe it.

I was booked in at Hellaby Hall Hotel and they managed to get us a “girls’ night in package”! which sounded perfect.

This included accommodation, each a 2-course dinner in the restaurant, breakfast the following morning, rose wine, chocolate popcorn and movies in our room which she’d managed to upgrade to a room that slept 4 instead of the rooms that are offered to only accommodate two, so we didn’t have to stay separate! It also included the use of the spa garden, an outdoor hot tub session, a spa treatment each with all robes and towels included! So, on the 9th of February, we all went to Hellaby Hall!

We had a wonderful time; my friends and I loved the whole experience! The hall was lovely, the staff were so helpful and the meals were fantastic! And the whole process was so quick and easy from my side.

We have so many memories to look back on! Thank you so much to the charity and to Baileigh-Jade who was our personal Dreams Co-Ordinator, we wouldn’t have been able to go if it wasn’t for Evestrust and her work to make it special❤️”

As a charity we must thank everybody who supports the charity, raises awareness, donates funds or does anything that helps us provide dreams throughout the year. Without you, we cannot answer these requests and provide the vital support mental health support a Dream can provide. This is our community and we can all make a difference x
