A Social Network campaign brought to the Trust’s attention
After a Social Network campaign was brought to the Trusts attention, “Support for Team Bradshaw”, we were eager to make ourselves known and see if there was anything we could assist with.
In October of 2013 their lives were turned upside down when Paul, a husband and father of 2 young daughters, Rebecca and Lucy Jo was diagnosed with an inoperable Brainstem Glioma and given a survival rate of 9 to 12 months. The Bradshaw’s however are fighters!! And with the support of some fantastic friends & fundraisers they will tackle any challenge that comes there way.
After contact with Kerrie (Paul’s wife) had been made, it became clear that Paul was an avid football fan and a keen follower of Arsenal F.C. Coincidentally (or some may say it was fate), the Trust’s next event just happened to be the Dinner Ball & Guest Speaker night on Sunday December 1st with non-other than Arsenal Legend Paul Merson. We invited Paul & Kerrie to be our special guests for the evening and give them a chance to relax, enjoy the company of one of Paul’s all time legends and hopefully take their mind off some of the negatives for just a couple of hours.
Despite still feeling the effects of a recent round of treatment, Paul managed to enjoy his night and even share a joke or two with Paul Merson as he was presented with a signed Arsenal away shirt from the Merson era. The icing on the cake however was still to come in the form of a personally gift from Paul Merson himself. As Paul Merson was about to leave to make the long trip back down south he spoke to Paul & Kerrie, handed them his personal mobile phone number and advised them that when Paul was up to it, give him and call and come and spend the day with him and the Soccer Saturday guys at Sky Sports…..
