I wanted to do a little write up for EvesTrust to share my story and how I came in contact with the charity.
My names Rosemary, Rosie to all that know me. In October 2014 I had the moment that all us women dread, I felt a lump in my breast. Obviously at the time you panic, you want to stay positive but you naturally start to fear the worst. Sadly those fears quickly became a reality, when that lump was later diagnosed as breast cancer. So, like many others like me, the treatment began and I had a lumpectomy, 15 rounds of radiotherapy and tamoxifen in December 2017. My story didn’t end there, in January 2018 I found another lump, this time in my neck and was told it was secondary advanced stage 4 metastatic Cancer…….I would need palliative care for a year, and every time I went to the clinic it was bad news. The worst of which being the news I would probably only have months to live, maybe at most, a year.
My Husband John and my sons Aidan 23 and Brendon 16 are my absolute world, and in my deepest darkest moments, my thoughts were always of them. Naturally my whole family have been extremely supportive, despite I’m sure having their own fears.
It was at that time I came across EvesTrust and saw all the lovely Dreams you have given to families like mine. The smiles I saw were something I knew we were in desperate need of, something positive to focus on. That’s why a break away would have been vital, to share those precious moments.
The charity of course was amazing, everything was so easy and they sent us to the most amazing cottage in Penrith at the Lake District. It was everything we needed and my family and me could not thank you enough xx
