The Dream request came to us from Kelly Wilson on behalf of her step father Paul.
After hearing the terrible news and shock that comes with Terminal Cancer, Kelly wanted to do something special. Below is her story and a trip home to Tamworth.
“I applied to The Eve Merton Dreams Trust, as my step dad is terminally ill with pancreatic cancer. Paul and my mum had been talking about trying to get back to Tamworth, Paul’s home town to see his family one last time.
I had seen via Facebook that Eve’s Trust had made many peoples dreams come true that were going through their own battles with cancer, so I applied.
In just 2 weeks after applying Paul got his dream. The Trust had arrange for another Doncaster charity, Firefly to come and take Paul and my mum to Tamworth and also arranged for a taxi to provide the transport home. Eve’s Trust also paid for our accommodation so my family and my sisters family could also be a part of the special day.
As Paul struggles to walk it was arranged for us to pick up a mobile scooter for him to use for the 2 nights we were there. Not only that but for us to have a family picnic in the park. Unfortunately with the weather it became a picnic in the pub but we made the most of it and Paul’s family members join us there as well. Roasters did us proud as they put on a lovely spread, separate children boxes and it pleased everyone. Of course we also have to thank the kindness of the Tamworth Arms for letting us eat our picnic inside!!
Everything from start to finish was taken care of so Paul could see his family for probably the last time, it wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for all the kind people that worked with The Eve Merton Dreams Trust to make Paul’s dream a reality.
Myself, Paul and my mum would never be able to thank-you all enough. X
