Kourtney Leigh Jones “Stay Connected Through Treatment”

The following is a story of an athletic 14yr old, facing up to treatment and all the impacts that come with that, please read her story:

“Kourtney is a 14-year-old, very beautiful girl inside and out, whose life was football up and down the country each and every week. She played for Doncaster elite until the devastated news she’d been diagnosed with AML, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, on the 26/11/24. Prior to that diagnosis, Kourtney had been going back and forth from the GP for around 6 weeks due to an ongoing football injury that simply wasn’t healing. We witnessed her constantly feeling run down and visibly becoming super pale. It turned out, she had leukaemia, and this was the route of all her problems.

Kourtney is now 3 months into intense chemotherapy, which she will have for a further 3-4 months. Then she’ll start a more standard form of chemotherapy that will run all the way until January 2026. To say it’s been a complete life change would be an understatement. From seeing our girl go from being super active and full of life, to be bed bound and run down, is just simply heart breaking. As parents, we can’t do anything except sit by and watch.

We’re now halfway through and looking forward to summer when she’s back home full time. In the meantime, Kourtney needed a new phone, shed asked for this due to spending so much time in Sheffield Children’s Hospital and not having regular contact with the outside world, due to her being at high risk of infections etc. Her existing phone wasn’t a modern one and restricted her during a time she needed a little bit of a distraction. This was no trouble for Evestrust who got it sorted pretty much straight away and even delivered it to our home, along with some flowers for Kourtney.

I just want to say a massive thankyou to Baileigh-Jade, our dreams coordinator, and the charity as a whole, for gifting Kourtney a brand-new iPhone. For her to be able to keep in touch with her friends and family throughout the worst period of her life, will really make the difference for her. I think her smile in the picture says it all.
Also, a thank you to Tommy Singh at I-Tech Centre Doncaster for helping us source the phone so quickly.”
