Louise’s Dream was nominated by a friend, please ready Louise’s story:
“I wanted to nominate my dear friend Louise for a wish come true as she is such an amazing mum of two who has gone through the most horrendous three years of her life. I have been friends with Louise for over 16 years. Louise has two wonderful children Katie 16 and Hannah 8.
Louise was diagnosed with breast cancer almost 3 years ago she underwent surgery and had Chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Louise was amazing during through her many months of horrendous treatment and completed it all. She managed to return to work and back to normality. Unfortunately less than a year later she started with severe back pain and after many tests she was diagnosed with tumours on her spine and pelvis, Louise started treatment again, the tumours seemed to be responding to the treatment but less than 6 months later Louise started with headaches and eyesight issues and was then given the news that the cancer had spread to her spinal fluid and this was untreatable due to the metastasis.
Devastating news for the family & friends but in true Louise style, she remained positive and upbeat, Louise has truly amazed me with her resilience and determination, words can’t explain how proud I am of this lady, she is truly remarkable. Faced with months to live Louise started planning everything for her children, they were surrounded by an outpouring of love and support which was amazing to witness. I wanted to give Louise and her girls a wonderful memory and I remembered seeing a Facebook post about an amazing charity who made dreams come true. So, I found Evestrust and completed a simple form and confirmed Louise’s diagnosis, the charity were so lovely from the start with their messages, Louise was accepted and I cried with joy.
We were quickly designated a lovely dream worker, who chatted to us both and asked what Louise’s dream would be. We requested a lodge break, somewhere close to Louise’s home for her and her daughters. The charity offered transport, nothing was too much trouble, I couldn’t believe it, a day later and we were offered a lodge local to our town. They were so quick to turn it around, in fact just 2 weeks, as Louise’s health was deteriorating rapidly.
Louise was admitted to Rotherham Hospice the week before her dream, but was determined to make it there so came to the lodge with medical aids fitted. Evestrust, Louise and her two amazing daughters and friends, made Louise’s dream come true. It was such an emotional time, we laughed, we cried and her youngest daughter had the best 8th birthday there. We named it the Love lodge as it was full of love.
I want to thank Evestrust from the bottom of my heart for making this happen, it was truly magical for the family and friends. Thank you”
Sadly, Louise recently passed away after a long and brave fight with Cancer. As a charity we are honoured to have been able to meet and assist in providing a trip to remember. Memories and smiles are key during this time, and they can last a lifetime for all involved.
Our thoughts are with Louise and her family.
